- 1868 Pattern Five-Cent Piece. Judd-632, Pollock-702. Rarity-7+. Copper. Plain Edge. Proof-65 BN (PCGS). CAC. Obv: similar to the circulating nickel three-cent pieces of the era but on a larger scale. Rev: oak and laurel wreath, star above, Roman numeral V within. <strong><em>The Harry W. Bass, Jr. specimen. </em></strong>The deep golden-red surfaces exhibit lively mirror fields and frosty motifs. A broad array of rose and blue iridescence is visible in a bold light source. Magnified scrutiny reveals no marks or blemishes of note. <strong><em>This is the finest Proof of the variety certified by PCGS within any color designation. </em></strong>
