Lot Description
Outstanding Small Format Success Token Plain Edge; Mint State Circa 1793 Washington Success Token. Small Size. Musante GW-44, Baker-267A, Breen-1290. Brass. Plain edge. MS-63 (PCGS). An outstanding example with superb aesthetic appeal. Generously reflective fields accentuate the definition of the sharp, satiny devices while rich mottled orange, blue, gold and violet accent both sides. Though the all-seeing eye is missing internal detail, as usual, this is a very nicely struck piece featuring strong details throughout the rest of the design. A small natural flan split is noted near 6 o'clock on the obverse, extending up into the bust. It might prove tough to find one with better eye appeal than this. Provenance: From the Sydney F. Martin Collection. Earlier from Heritage's sale of October 2010, lot 3416. Click here for certification details from PCGS. Image with the PCGS TrueView logo is obtained from and is subject to a license agreement with Collectors Universe, Inc. and its divisions PCGS and PSA.
