Brilliant Mint State preservation for this well known, highly regraded condition rarity among Philadelphia Mint Morgan dollars. Both the strike and luster quality are superior for the issue, the former sharp throughout and the latter with a lively satin texture. Although the 1894 has a much lower mintage (110,000 vs. 6,962,000 circulation strikes), the 1901 is the rarest Morgan dollar from this coinage facility in Uncirculated condition. Examples such as this attractive MS-61 are always met with strong bids when they are offered through auction.
