Lot Description

The last date struck for circulation, and with the lowest mintage in the series, the 1872 is a KEY, especially in Mint State grades. Only 65,000 were struck. The present coin has no wear anywhere. Accents of original red peek through a layer of violet "woodgrain" toning. Some light contact is noted, but the eye appeal is generally quite pleasing for the grade. PCGS 0, NGC 2. The last NGC MS61 RB sold over a decade ago, realizing $2,875 in February 2011. The current Collectors Universe value is listed at $3,650. Cert. Number 3422140002 PCGS # 3613
