Lot Description
Unlike the 1901-S, the 1902-S ten, despite a mintage of 469,500, was not shipped overseas, and thus survivors in GEM grade are much rarer on this date and in MS66 or finer, this date is VERY RARE indeed. After 36+ years of operations, PCGS and NGC combined have graded 21 in MS66 or higher. This is a sharply struck and amazingly brilliant GEM. Certainly high grade, the surfaces are radiant, dripping with a blazing cartwheel brilliance. There are a couple of microscopic ticks and giggles here and there, widely scattered and so minor they barely warrant mention. The eye appeal is great. PCGS 7, NGC 7. The most recent NGC-graded example sold for $9,000 in July 2022, and before that, one sold for $10,800 in December 2020. The current Collectors Universe value is listed at $10,000. Just three are graded higher at NGC, none of which have ever sold in auction. A prize for the advanced collector, we anticipate strong bidding here. Good luck. Cert. Number 37519313 PCGS # 8751
