- A frosty and generally smooth example with some nice gloss also of note. The surfaces are hard and tight, faintly semi-reflective in the fields, and reveal no individually mentionable blemishes apart from a couple of short nicks in the right obverse field and a faint spot at the junction of Liberty's chin and neck. Struck a few degrees off center to lower left obverse, upper left reverse, there is only partial border denticulation on both sides, and it is unusually broad at right. Even medium brown patina on the obverse, the reverse shows gentle mottling of autumn-brown and olive-copper. This coin was cleaned at one time, but retains stronger overall detail than one might expect for the assigned grade. It is a visually pleasing piece that, as a Sheldon-76b, is particularly desirable for circulated type purposes to represent the Liberty Cap large cent.
