Lot Description

Fully struck satin surfaces are attractively toned in warm reddish-apricot with wisps of powder blue engaging the obverse border. With the lowest mintage of its type, it should come as no surprise that the 1916 is the rarest Proof Buffalo nickel. Even if most have survived, as estimated by John W. Dannreuther (2023), examples are elusive given a delivery of just 600 pieces. This lovely premium Gem is sure to appeal to astute bidders.
