1788 Vermont Copper. RR-31, Bressett 24-U, Vlack 22-88VT, W-2260. Rarity-4. Mailed Bust Right. GEORGIVS III REX. VF-25 (PCGS). 118.8 grains. This Machin's Mills-produced Vermont variety is one the most intriguing in the series. It features an obverse die, used only on this variety, that was made with the standard head punch seen on other 1788 Bust Right Vermonts, but with British halfpenny legends of GEORGIVS III REX. Examples of this variety tend to come crudely made on poor quality planchets. This specimen is better struck than most and despite slightly rough surfaces, it remains an excellent representative.
