1854 Round 50 Cents. BG-431. Rarity-5-. Die State II. Liberty Head. MS-62 (PCGS). Hart's "Coins of the Golden West." 1914 Washington-Indian series. 50¢. MS-66 (NGC). Vibrant olive-gold surfaces with more of a medium-gold sheen discernible at direct angles. We note only wispy handling marks limiting the grade. The "Empty Wreath" reverse design of the BG-431 type appears on no other die in the California small denomination gold series.
