- Lot Description
- Of all the issues in the Liberty nickel series, 1889 stands as one of the most difficult to separate properly into mint-state versus proof strikings. NGC calls this PF-67, yet each sides sparkles with multi-faceted luster reminiscent of a circulation strike. Although certainly not worthy of designation, the obverse does show some evidence of cameo frost on Liberty's portrait
