Lot Description

Noyes Die State B/C. Warm golden-brown obverse toning with appreciable pinkish-rose mint color retained in the protected areas around some of the design elements, most notably the stars at right. The reverse is more deeply toned in olive-copper but also has faint traces of faded mint color engaging some of the design elements. Well struck for both the type and die state, evidence for die erosion at the peripheries is minimal, and the central design elements are crisp. Faint carbon spots inside stars 1 and 2 on the obverse and within the wreath at upper left on the reverse are the only blemishes of note on otherwise well composed and smooth-looking surfaces.
