1911 Saint-Gaudens Double Eagle. MS-66 (NGC). The immaculate yellow-gold surfaces of this splendid premium Gem display beautiful shimmering mint luster and sharply struck design motifs. An exquisitely preserved example of this relatively low mintage issue of fewer than 200,000 coins. Relatively few survive at higher Mint State grades beyond MS-64. At this grade level the numbers known dwindle to just a handful. As the desire for the finest and highest condition rarity continues to grow, the pressure on the finest examples is reflected in the prices they bring. An extraordinary condition rarity that is worthy of the most advanced collection.
