- 1992-D Lincoln Cent. FS-901. Close AM, Proof (a.k.a. Type I) Reverse. AU-58 (ANACS). OH. The AM of AMERICA is quite close and nearly touching unlike most business strikes where the AM are further apart. What numismatists determined is that a Proof reverse die somehow entered into the mix for regular business strikes and a small number were struck. Faded mint color on both sides, with a few nicks from brief circulation. When this variety was discovered there was quite a bit of excitement as collectors quickly began the fevered search to find an example. Not many have been found and these remain highly sought after today. PCGS# 83099.
