Tompkins Die Stage 2/3, Rea et al. Die State a. A respectable, if heavily circulated example of this eagerly sought key date early quarter issue. The surfaces reveal only light, singularly inconspicuous marks and are deeply toned in charcoal-gray with a hint of medium rose. The lower reverse border is more heavily worn than elsewhere with little detail remaining, but all other areas retain nice outline definition to the major design elements. The date is bold, and the diagnostic die line of the Browning-2 attribution is clear between stars 8 and 9.
