Deep, vivid colors in olive-orange and rose-gold blend over both sides of this minimally circulated example, both sides of which retain ample evidence of a softly frosted finish. Overall striking detail remains bold, and impressively so for an issue that is typically offered with characteristic softness of definition in and around the obverse center. The appearance is smoother than one might expect for an early date Carson City Mint double eagle at the Choice AU grade level, and this is clearly an attractive example of a key date issue.
