Tompkins Die Stage 1/1, Rea et al. Die State P. The perfect denomination with Square Base 2 readily identifies this scarce die pairing, rarest of the 1828 Capped Bust quarter after only the celebrated B-3 25/50 C. The present example delivers blended mauve and olive-gray toning on surfaces that retain plenty of bold striking detail in the more protected areas of the design. Lightly cleaned ages ago, but to little detriment as the coin is free of sizeable marks and presents as pleasingly smooth during in-hand viewing.
