Lot Description

Despite a sizable mintage that exceeded 1.4 million, the 1893-S is a conditionally challenging date in GEM and VERY RARE any finer. The present CAC-approved PCGS MS65 ranks among the top half dozen approved by CAC. Boasting a bold, satiny mint frost that shimmers from below an even blend of antique iridescent patina in shades of pewter and rose. The strike is bold for the date, and the problem free surfaces are a delight to behold. PCGS 12, NGC 5, CAC 3. This is the ONLY CAC-approved MS65 to sell in auction, last selling for $5,434 a decade ago. The current PCGS Price Guide value is listed at $5,750 and the CAC CPG value is listed at $6,250.
