Lot Description

Classic 1800 Funeral Urn Medal "1799" (ca. 1800) Washington Funeral Urn Medal. Musante GW-70, Baker-166a, Fuld Dies 1-B. Rarity-6. Silver. EF-45 (PCGS). 29.3 mm. 130.8 grains. Neatly pierced for suspension as usual. Medium silver gray with slightly lighter highlights on the reliefs and traces of gold, green, blue and rose detected in the protected areas of the fields. No serious marks are seen, and the only one that might be worthy of note is a tiny pinprick just below the base of the urn. A handsome example that is evenly struck with good detail. Though there is a bit of softness at the upper center of the urn, the all-important GW monogram is crisply defined. Provenance: Purchased privately from Bowers and Ruddy Galleries.
