1799 Draped Bust Silver Dollar. BB-169, B-21. Rarity-3. AU-55 (NGC). Blushes of iridescent cobalt blue and reddish-russet peripheral toning enhance otherwise antique silver surfaces. Much luster remains to surfaces that are smooth in hand apart from a lone reverse scuff at the back of the eagle's head. Well struck for the type with most features sharp, and few less than bold. While not a major rarity among die marriages of the 1799 dollar, BB-169 is more conditionally challenging than most with the typical survivor grading no finer than EF. This lovely Choice AU is eagerly awaiting inclusion in an advanced early dollar cabinet or high grade type set. BB Die State IV. Provenance: From the Legacy Collection.
