Lot Description

This thoroughly PQ specimen reveals just a tinge of iridescent rose-brown patina to otherwise medium mint orange surfaces. Temptingly close to a full Red color assessment, both sides also possess bold contrast between reflective fields and frosty motifs that readily upholds the Cameo designation from NGC. The 1868 is similar in overall rarity to the 1866, 1867 and 1869 Proof cents; the typical survivor has streaky color due to having been struck on planchets with improperly mixed bronze alloy. This coin is a noteworthy exception and will certainly catch the eye of astute bidders and advanced Indian cent collectors.
