- 1888 Gold Dollar. Proof-65 Ultra Cameo (NGC). The penultimate issue in the proof Gold Dollar series, the 1888 is actually among the more readily obtainable dates of the type. In an absolute sense, of course, survivors of this 1,079-piece delivery are very scarce-to-rare in all grades. Remarkably bold in field-to-device contrast, this Ultra Cameo specimen is also a solid Gem with no worrisome blemishes to either side. Bathed in yellow-gold color, with eye appeal to spare.
