Lot Description

1870 Pattern Quarter. Judd-889, Pollock-988. Rarity-7. Proof-64 (PCGS). Richly toned with classic gunmetal-blue on the obverse and reverse with tinges of russet-rose in the fields. The strike is sharp on Liberty and the wreath elements. The obverse of this Standard Silver Quarter has a bust of Liberty facing right, with cap mounted by three stars, with a loose ribbon about her shoulder inscribed LIBERTY. UNITED STATES OF AMERICA surrounds with a banner ribbon below stating IN GOD WE TRUST. The reverse has an open agricultural wreath with 25 CENTS and 1870, with STANDARD in small lettering above. Struck in silver with a reeded edge.
