Lot Description
LM-9, considered to be R-4. A very pleasing early half dime! Soft silver surfaces show hints of pale gold. For the variety, the strike is very bold, especially considering the heavily clashed dies. Very close inspection shows light “slide mark” lines from being in an old album, but these really blend into the overall look of this fantastic coin. With so many damaged, cleaned, or otherwise unwholesome pieces in the market, this coin will be a great addition to any high grade type set or half dime collection. PCGS 54, NGC 84. These are NOT as common as the populations might have you think: going back to 1998, 18 PCGS-graded examples have sold in auction, per our database. The most recent one that sold realized a weak $6,756 in June 2016, and the current CU value is listed at $10,000, which is about the average of the examples sold in auction. We think this coin should sell for a decent price. PCGS # 4251 Certification Number 82256993 PCGS # 4251
