M. Diatom Collection. Perusal of recent auction results suggests that there is but a minimal difference in value between XF-40 and XF-45 for the 1859 3-dollar, but that only makes sense as it is comparably available through most grades despite a mintage of only fifteen-and-a-half-thousand pieces. Nevertheless, the cataloger suggests the upgrade is distinctly possible given the pleasant tinges of luster noticed within the periphery of the saffron-gold surface. A plethora of tiny contact ticks scatter entirely across either side, but in every single instance, they are so minute that even in aggregate, the visual impact is scarcely noticeable. Absolutely a premium quality example for the grade.
