A blazing headlight that beams from across the room! Deep mirrors, bordering on DCAM contrast brilliantly against the highly frosted boldly struck devices. Late date Barber proofs rarely display this bold a contrast as this GEM does! The surfaces are clean, free of any distractions and are completely untoned, looking as impressive today as it did the day this coin came off the dies! Only 543 proofs were struck. PCGS 21, NGC 15, CAC 12. The last example to sell in auction realized $2,820 in LRCA’s Regency XV Auction in December 2015. That coin was toned. PCGS has graded 13 coins finer, the best being PR68 CAM (the most recent selling for $12,338 in our December 2016 Regency XIX Auction). The current PCGS Price Guide value is $3,500 and we think this SUPERB GEM will either be added to a top notch set of PR Barbers (now is a great time to build a set, as the market has really put them on sale), or will represent the type in a superb PR type set.
