Lot Description: 1879 Trade Dollar. Proof-63 Cameo (PCGS). CAC. The central elements are brilliant and frosted in satiny luster, floating against watery and reflective fields on both sides. Delicate shades of vanilla patina are noted around the design elements and deeper bronze and indigo patina paint the rims. Fully without distracting imperfections and approved by CAC. One of the most popular high quality type candidates in the trade dollar series, the 1879 inaugurates a run of Proof-only dates that would continue through the series' official end in 1883.
