Lot Description
FROM THE BANKER COLLECTION Ex Simpson Collection. Easily one of the FINEST KNOWN examples of this Rarity-7+ Standard Silver pattern half dollar struck in copper with a plain edge. We think only a little irregular toning keeps this wonderful piece from a PR67 RB. Deep and glass like mirrors offer bold clarity, cleanliness, and of course a stunning reflection. The color is a mix of totally original GEM faded Mint red/pale brown/faded violet/deep gold colors. Miss Liberty and the details are frosty and are fully struck. The eye appeal is terrific! PCGS 1, NGC 0, CAC 1. This beauty sold for $11,750 in our January 2017 Regency Auction. It had been off the market for many years before that. Its quality is superior to the NGC PR67 RB that sold in March 2012 for $13,225. The current Collectors Universe value is listed at $14,500. This will be a great addition to any GEM Pattern collection. Cert. Number 30931982 PCGS # 71236.00
