Lot Description
1795 Flowing Hair Silver Dollar. BB-21, B-1. Rarity-2. Two Leaves. Fine-15 (NGC). Richly toned in steel and charcoal gray, this piece would make a pleasing addition to a circulated type set that requires an example of our nation's first silver dollar design. A couple of tiny digs over and before Liberty's neck are noted for accuracy, although we stress that the balance of the surfaces are outwardly smooth, and uncommonly so for an early dollar that saw this extensive circulation. These large format silver coins retain considerable eye appeal despite this degree of circulation, with Liberty showing separation on her deeper curls and the eagles wings offer more feather definition than one would expect to find. A handsome example of this first type style of silver dollar. PCGS# 6853.
