This is a totally original PQ GEM Spanish Trail with distinct claims to an even loftier grade. Satiny lustrous surfaces swirl with a glowing underlying brilliance that highlights the delicate golden tone. With a mintage of 10,008, the Spanish Trail commemorative half dollar is one of the lowest mintage types in the 50-piece type set, and its ""cow head"" design (a play on the name of Alvar Nunez Cabeza De Vaca) is always popular. PCGS 745, NGC 469, CAC 175. There are 44 graded MS66+ at PCGS, no doubt the Population and Census figures include duplication of submissions. The most recent PCGS/CAC MS66+ sold in a December 2019 Online Only Auction which realized $1,625. The current PCGS Price Guide value is listed at $1,650--this one is certainly going to exceed that level in today's market and will find itself in a fine set of Classic Commemorative type. Cert.
