Lot Description

A KEY date, only 27,000 were struck, and the present CHOICE XF is very high end for the grade and is a popular collector oriented grade. Just some moderate wear is noted, but this coin was saved from circulation before it could get any serious contact marks or heavy wear. Pleasing, original toning graces both obverse and reverse, adding to the outstanding eye appeal. PCGS 5, NGC 6, CAC 3. There has never been a CAC-approved example in XF45 sold in auction and the last PCGS-graded example sold in 2009! The current PCGS Price Guide value is $4,500 and this coin will likely sell for more. That the Simpson Collection only had a 53 speaks volumes to how RARE this date is in high grade. Cert.
