Description du lot: 1866 Liberty Seated Quarter. Motto. Proof-65 (PCGS). Lovely, mottled toning in olive-russet and sandy-silver with pink, blue and mauve undertones. The strike is full from the rims to the centers, as befits the method of manufacture, and the Proof finish is intense and readily appreciable at all viewing angles. From the first year of the series to bear the motto IN GOD WE TRUST on the reverse, and one of 725 pieces struck according to the Guide Book. The Millholland specimen is among the finer examples of the issue seen thus far by PCGS. Provenance: From the Collection of James Allaire Millholland, 1842-1911.
