Lot Description

1834 Capped Bust Dime. JR-5. Rarity-1. MS-64 (PCGS). A beautiful specimen with satiny silver gray devices that contrast against impressively prooflike fields on both sides. Light mottling of champagne and intense blue iridescence is seen throughout, but the glittering nature of the fields complements this nicely making for a very aesthetically pleasing example. At least two examples from these dies have been graded Proof by NGC, explaining why the fields are so reflective on this piece which was struck later. A trace of weakness in the centers but all other details are quite sharp. The rims are full and the stars are complete.
