Lot Description

While the mintage of 2,340,000 suggests a coin that should be easily obtainable, this date is surprisingly rare in mint state. Softly toned with a rich underlying luster that highlights a clean, crisp strike. Very pleasing to the eye. There is no question this GEM has been underrated for many years. PCGS 6, NGC 6, CAC 4. The only CAC-approved coin to sell in auction was the Bob Simpson coin that sold for $6,900 in September 2010--prior to that the last PCGS MS66 sold in 2000! A PCGS MS65 CAC sold for $4,348 in our December 2016 Regency XIX Auction. The current PCGS Price Guide value is listed at $5,000 and we think this coin may break that level. Good luck!
