Description du lot: Elusive Near-Mint 1854-O Large Date $10 1854-O Liberty Head Eagle. Large Date. Winter-2. AU-58 (PCGS). CAC. A handsome example featuring warm, even golden-olive color. Lustrous and softly frosted, both sides are impressively smooth for the assigned grade with outstanding originality. Well struck for the issue, as well, we note bold to sharp detail to most design elements. This popular variety features a date logotype that was intended for production of silver dollar dies. It is so large that Doug Winter (2020) opines that the 1854-O Large Date eagle "should rightfully be called a Huge Date." While marginally more available than its identically dated Small Date counterpart, the Large Date is still conditionally challenging with upper end Choice AU and Mint State survivors of the utmost rarity.
