- 1837 Liberty Seated Half Dime. No Stars. Small Date. MS-65 (NGC).
Boldly struck throughout with all the devices sharp on this first year of issue of the new Gobrecht design. The surfaces are splendid too, with no detracting marks. Delicate silver-gray patina on both sides but mostly bright silver in appearance. A few minor die cracks as commonly seen, one to Liberty's heal on the right, die crumbling is noted on her leg where it meets the field, and the reverse has a few thin cracks, all confirming the depth of the strike and the desire to impart these new designs into the psyche of the American public.
PCGS Population: 32;26 finer (Mint State-68 finest) within the No Stars, Small Date designation.
PCGS# 4312. NGC ID: 232M.
