Lot Description
1866 Liberty Seated Silver Dollar. Motto. Proof-65 Cameo (PCGS). CAC. A visually enticing specimen with boldly frosted motifs, especially on the obverse, and with a pale golden center that yields to a rich array of deep gold, fiery crimson, and bright neon blue iridescence toward the rim on that side. The reverse presents a study in varied gold and champagne iridescence. An impressive Gem proof of the date, one of 725 pieces produced after the motto IN GOD WE TRUST was added to the reverse design, and among the 10 finest PCGS-certified examples of the date. Out of the numismatic marketplace for much of this writer's (FVV) lifetime, the present beauty will soon find itself at home in an advanced Liberty Seated dollar collection or superb U.S. type set.

Numismatic Reflections by Q. David Bowers
Another Teich family Gem, this coin will be a prime attraction, front row center, if you are building a type set (what with the first year with the motto) or simply want a superb example of this rarity.
