- 1862 Gold Dollar. FS-101, VP-001. Doubled Die Obverse. MS-61 (NGC). CAC.
A particularly desirable example of this Civil War era gold dollar issue. Satiny surfaces are sharply struck and dressed in lovely honey-gold and rose-apricot colors. Obverse doubling is particularly pronounced near the upper border, and especially at the letters in the word OF. The 2012 edition of the Cherrypickers' Guideby Bill Fivaz and J.T. Stanton describe this as "a visually appealing DDO."
PCGS# 145704. NGC ID: 25CW.
