Lot Description

1884 Liberty Quarter Eagle. MS-60 (PCGS). Well struck throughout, with slightly reflective fields from an early striking after the dies were freshly polished. Delicate olive-gold toning over the fields, with the devices frosty and well preserved. A few shallow marks are noted in the fields, but finer in quality than the grade would imply. Scarce in any Mint State grade, with a token mintage of 1,950 pieces and only a small percentage of those surviving at all.
