1823 Capped Bust Half Dollar. O-110a. Rarity-3. Ugly 3. EF-40 (PCGS). Rich lavender-charcoal patina blankets both sides in an even manner. This piece remains bold in detail despite the presence of light wear, and a fairly short stint in circulation has not imparted any abrasions of note. The popular Ugly 3 variety of the 1823 Capped Bust Half Dollar features a die break (as struck) at the back of the 3 that has caused the digit to become rough and misshapen.
