Lot Description
1834 Capped Bust Dime. JR-4. Rarity-3. Large 4. MS-62 (NGC). A scarce die marriage that is typically offered no better than VF, the obverse of the 1834 JR-4 Dime is identifiable by a large-size 4 in the date with a defective crossbar. This obverse was also used to strike examples of the JR-5 variety, but in the JR-4 marriage it is paired with a reverse on which the top arrow shaft is defective. With vivid rose-apricot and pale-gold peripheral highlights to bolder olive-gray patina. A boldly impressed BU that is sure to be of keen interest to the early Dime variety specialist.
