Lot Description

1901-S Barber Quarter. VF-25 (NGC). This is the rarest issue in the Barber Quarter series, a mintage of 72,664 coins being greater than that of 40,000 pieces recorded for the 1913-S, but the 1901-S suffering a much higher rate of attrition through circulation. Minimally toned with a mostly silver-white sheen, both sides of the present example retain faint traces of luster in the protected areas around some of the devices. Wispy abrasions are noted, none of which are worthy of individual attention. Well defined despite the presence of moderate, yet even wear.
