THE BIG CYPRESS COLLECTION The 1859 $3 gold piece had an original, modest mintage of 15,558, of which today, PCGS CoinFacts estimates about 150 in all Mint State grades survive today. This is a very pleasing example with a great look for the assigned grade. A bold luster radiates on both sides. The obverse shows some semi-PL reflection, while the reverse is more frosted. A hint of coppery-orange can be found at the reverse periphery attesting to the originality. Light marks and lines might account for the technical grade of MS62, but the eye appeal is VERY CHOICE! PCGS 46, NGC 35, CAC 5. There has been no PCGS/CAC example sold in auction in over a decade! The current PCGS Price Guide value is $6,500 and the CAC CPG value is $7,800. With MS63s valued into the five figures, this is a great grade for any collector working on a high quality set. Cert. Number 45455823 PCGS # 7979
