Lot Description

Gorgeous surfaces are fully struck, highly lustrous and bathed in vivid sandy-gold patina. Produced in sizeable numbers (1,718,740 circulation strikes) with many coins repatriated from foreign bank hoards, the 1901 is one of the more popular Mint State type candidates from the Motto portion of the Liberty Head eagle series. Premium Gems such as this, however, remains scarce from a market availability standpoint.
