We note subtle traces of pinkish-red mint color to otherwise warmly toned, olive and medium brown surfaces. The obverse is missing about 75% of the border denticulation and is soft along the left border, which softness also involves the rings along the left reverse border. All major design elements are fully on the flan, and those in other areas are mostly bold to sharp. Some faint planchet striations find greatest concentration at the upper right obverse, both sides show light carbon build up that helps to explain the MS-62 numeric grade from PCGS. We see no handling marks or other blemishes of note. Newman 12-X is among the most common Fugio varieties in high grade, second only to 13-X, and several hundred were among the Bank of New York's hoard, which coins enjoy particularly strong numismatic demand for high grade type purposes.
