- Lot Description
- A truly special GEM example. High end quality surfaces are satin smooth with a delicate Prooflike flashy quality to the luster. This coin was struck using the same die pair that was identified as striking the Branch Mint Proofs. A soft, champagne-gold is dusted over the sharply struck devices and GEM quality fields. A strong glass fails to reveal any serious marks, lines or discoloration anywhere. The underlying flash really gives this one a great look! PCGS 219, NGC 202, CAC 54. There are only eight in MS65+. This is a great example of the type, and this one brought a strong $5,040 in October 2018. The current PCGS Price Guide value is $4,500. As the more available date of this very short-lived type, this piece is a great example for a GEM type set. Good luck! Cert. Number 25117838 PCGS # 5298.00
