- Description du lot
- Always a popular issue that figures prominently on collectors' want lists, the 1848 is the lowest mintage Liberty Seated dollar from the 1840s. Just 15,000 coins were struck in response to a record (pre-1850) low demand from silver bullion depositors requesting coins of this denomination. Fewer than 1,000 examples are believed extant in all grades, perhaps as few as 600, and when offered these rarely remain on the open market for long.
