Lot Description
1904-O Liberty Head Eagle. Winter-1, the only known dies. MS-61 (PCGS). An attractive eagle, displaying honey-gold color with a tinge of pale apricot iridescence. Both sides exhibit softly frosted luster that includes some satiny qualities. Sharply struck. This is the second most obtainable New Orleans Mint eagle, trailing only the 1903-O, and enough examples have been repatriated from foreign bank hoards that the collector should have no difficulty locating an Uncirculated coin in the MS-60 to MS-62 grade range. Few such pieces, however, deliver the undeniable originality and strong eye appeal of this Fairmont Collection specimen. It represents a noteworthy bidding opportunity for the astute gold collector. Provenance: From the Fairmont Collection - CBL Set. PCGS# 8756. NGC ID: 267Z. Click here for certification details from PCGS.
