Lot Description

A lower mintage date with 165,497 struck and few survivors remain in high grade. Indeed in MS64+ and finer grades, PCGS has graded fewer than two dozen examples. A brilliant satin golden luster glows on both sides. The strike is crisp and razor sharp, with every detail fully brought out with a strong impression from the dies. Minimally abraded with just a tiny tick or two noted for accuracy. The medium-orange and yellow gold patina give this near-GEM a great look. PCGS 5, NGC 1. The most recent examples in this grade to sell were CAC approved, most recently realizing $4,800 in August 2022. In July 2022 we sold a similar looking coin in PCGS MS65 for $5,875.
