1866 Seated Liberty Silver Dollar. Motto. Proof-66 Deep Cameo (PCGS). Secure Holder. Easily among the finest three or four examples of the first-year proof Motto Seated Dollar issue ever to pass through this cataloger's hands, the importance of this coin for high-grade type or date purposes cannot be overstated. Both sides are exceptionally smooth for an issue that is seldom offered any finer than Proof-64, there being not even a single worrisome hairline, contact mark or other blemish. The devices are thickly frosted, a feature that provides marked contrast with deeply mirrored fields. Originally toned, as well, with bold cobalt-blue and copper-apricot highlights that are largely confined to the peripheries. A delectable, conditionally rare Gem that really needs to be seen to be fully appreciated.
