Description du lot
1861 Pattern Seated Liberty Half Dollar. Judd-280, Pollock-331. Rarity-7-. Proof-67 BN (NGC). The obverse is the same design that the Mint used to strike regular issue 1861 Seated Liberty Half Dollars. The reverse is similar to the regular issue type but with the addition of the motto GOD OUR TRUST in the field above the eagle. Struck in copper with a reeded edge.
This is the single-finest example of Judd-280 certified at PCGS and NGC, and it is a handsome piece with dominant copper-rose patina to silky-smooth surfaces. More direct angles do call forth brighter pinkish-red and powder-blue undertones, especially on the obverse. Fully struck from the dies, and eagerly awaiting inclusion in the finest specialized collection.
